Nintendo Patches 3DS, Adds Folders with Firmware, Fixes Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

During the Nintendo Direct broadcast today the company announced an upcoming firmware update for 3DS. Folders, ahoy!

The 3DS is the company's first console to add substantial updates to the systems core functionality, and this next version is set to finally address a long-running issue on Nintendo systems - the ability to patch software to fix those nasty bugs across all your 3DS titles. Updates will be available on the 3DS eShop, and when downloaded will be available to affected titles in your collection.

Fancy organising your software will also be a breeze - there'll be the ability to to soft your software into folders, each can store sixty , making navigating your home many far quicker.

The firmware upgrade will be available to fans in North America and Japan on April 25th.

The first titles to receive a little healing will be Mario Kart 7. Though offering a comprehensive racing experience online, racers have seen frustrating moments with glitches allowing significant shortcuts for those who could pull it off. The patch, due in May, should address this issue. Also due updates at somepoint are New Love Plus and Kingdom Hearts 3D.

Patches for Mario Kart 7? Sounds very promising indeed! Also, for someone with a complete OCD of arranging things.. folders are going to be an awesome addition. Smilie

Much needed and welcome addition indeed, patching Smilie. This and the fact that Nintendo allows for voice chat in the online mode for Heroes of Ruin, even with strangers if the parental settings allow it, are good signs that Nintendo is willing to actually ACT to improve their online aspects.

Nice addition to the OS. Wasn't expecting a patch for MK7 at all, pretty pleased about that.
