Legend of Zelda Song Sampled in R&B Track on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The iconic Fairy Fountain theme from the Legend of Zelda has found its way into a different medium: a song by a girl group.

American R&B trio SWV, better known as Sisters With Voices, recently sampled a familiar tune from Nintendo's adventure series as the entire backing melody in the lead single of their forthcoming album I Missed Us.

The Great Faiy's Theme has been used as the File Selection song in almost every Legend of Zelda game to date. Curious? Have a listen to the song in its entirety below.

Let's sample a track from one of the world's most recognized video games... no one will notice, I'm sure...

Well, there's also Wiz Khalifa- Never Been

Sample from Chrono Trigger.

Still, I don't like this song, the Music doesn't really go well with their voices.

I was talking with somebody about this this past Sunday. At which point does it go from remixing to making money off someone else's work?

Koji Kondo shouldn't be bothered anyway. He's got the skills to actually write melodies like this one, and his piece is advertised even more. Don't think he has to worry about his children living in poverty either. Yeah he's probably chillin' to this song rite now.

Cool Smilie

The movie Scott Pilgrim also used numerous samples from Zelda, including this one.

This hurts my ears!

The three of them should be featured as the new fairies of power, wisdom and courage in the next zelda implementation with more contemporary music.

Zelda would change forever. Could this be the change the series need? Smilie

NO IT ISN'T!

Well, that was just ruined forever... :/

I really did not enjoy that song. Either they aren't very good singers, and the recording was over-produced to try and cover it up, or it just wasn't produced well.

And I'm pretty sure that wiz khalifa song isn't sampling CT. It's just a simple analog synth sound that might have come from an MPC or an MPC emulator.

Like video game music?!

Too much autotune + modern R'n'B.

"Sisters with Voices"

I think this could tell you something already about their creativity and their (lack of) motivation in the music field.
Would you really expect something great if an announcer introduced the next band as "Three brothers playing instruments". I don't think it shows much effort.

Is it then that surprising they didn't come up with their own (catchy) melody? Bart says: no.

Sounds like Eternal...

Maybe the next Zelda will be black!

well i played thrguoh the game and i can honestly say that while the game is outstanding it has some problems specially frame rate and the last boss might be annoying not because it's difficult (in fact it's kinda easy) but the frame rate every time you hit him with a light arrow the game slows down so much for about 3-4 seconds and there's other parts in the game were that happens with 3D off and with 3D on it has even more but besides that it is a great game but the slow downs are annoying

The master quest that we fnlialy got in the gamecube era. Actually, I've been told by many in youtube comments that Japan never saw the second quest any sooner. Otherwise there would be MQ footage with the crescent and the buttons blue and green, not green and red to match the GCN controller. Although the 64 disc drive was indeed released in Japan (only), the planned Ocarina of Time upgrade has never seen the light of day anywhere.
