Battleship Game Based On Film Of The Same Name Available On Multiple Formats on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Activision Publishing have launched Battleship, a game inspired by the recently released Universal Pictures film of the same name, across multiple gaming formats including Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and 3DS in the UK.

The cinematic title is a hybrid of military strategy and fast-paced first person shooter where players must control a powerful naval fleet in a war against aliens at sea, on land and in air. The game includes playable authentic naval vessels including destroyers, carriers and even the famous U.S.S. Missouri.

The game is slightly different depending on which platform it is played on. On Xbox 360 and PS3, players control a first class Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician named Cole Mathis. Players must monitor and dominate the marine battlefield by using a range of weapons, including machine guns and missile launchers, to deploy air strikes and radar sweeps.

In Wii, DS and 3DS versions of the game players control a range of naval units including cruisers, submarines and patrol boats with a team of specialised commanders. There are different modes to choose from too where players can unlock new maps, units and leaders.

Have you seen Battleship, the film? What did you think and will you be trying out the game as a result?

So... it's the video game of the movie of the board game?

Pretty much... I got a little confused whilst writing this story trying to figure out what came first.

Actually, a game version of the original physical game wouldn't be so bad. I always worried the other player would cheat when I went for a pee!
Probably because I knew from first hand experience. The best part was making the cheating impossible to detect, which wasn't always easy. Thinking back to it now, I don't think I was particularly good at it. I didn't have anybody left to play the game with me after some time. Maybe they were just sore losers though?

So yeah, this 'problem' could be fixed by taking your portable to the loo/tree/hole.

Is that film actually about invisible ships in a sea two countries randomly drop bombs in? Anybody seen it?
