E3 2012 | Gearbox Highlight Wii U Aliens as Best Version on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Gearbox Software have teased that the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines will be the best looking version out there.

You can now count the number of days left till the big Wii U worldwide reveal on both hands, and fans are itching to know how Nintendo's first steps into the HD realm would compare to hardware that has already been on the market for five, six years - the Xbox 360 and PS3. There has been a mixed response, with multiplatform projects being "just as good" as their current-generation counterparts, however Gearbox have openly stated that the Wii U edition will be the best visually.

Speaking to Eurogamer this week, senior producer Brian Burleson praised the Wii U as a "powerful, powerful machine". He noted how porting the title "was not much of a chore" and that because of "more modern tech", the Wii U edition will just be that bit better.

But how? Due to NDA agreements, Burelson could only tease: "You'll have to wait and see - Just trust me on that one."

Aliens: Colonial Marines is expected to make its Wii U debut at this year's E3 Expo.

I hope he's not got a blinkered view of the system and it's not limited when making other styles of games and I'm looking forward to seeing the specs (hopefully) at E3. Though I'm mainly an XBOX gamer these days I always buy a nintendo machine too so I can get my ninty fix, but it would be nice if more than a handful of dev's could do some impressive games on the system and create a community for online play then I wouldn't have to have more than one console in the house, but then that doesn't just depend on the main games either. Nintendo need to sort out their online services too as I play XBLA games more than any other, the WiiWare games are alright but not a lot of 3rd party dev's go to nintendo for that service either as the sales model is ludicrous.

For the record, Randy mentioned specifically in a recent interview the Wii U version will be the best looking console version. Which makes perfect sense. The PC will always be a few steps ahead of consoles.

Chance favors the prepared mind.
