E3 2012 | Metro: Last Light No Longer Heading to Wii U on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Fancy playing Metro: Last Light on Wii U? You have to look elsewhere for now - THQ has confirmed that it's not in development.

The upcoming first-person survival horror sequel is due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, but despite being shown officially by Nintendo during E3 last year, the title hasn't been in development for Wii U. According to global brand manager Mark Madsen, speaking to Digital Spy, "as we got along in the development process, we just really wanted to focus on what we knew, focus on PS3, 360 and PC."

Madsen feels that it wasn't too early to show the title during Nintendo's third party showreel last year, and if a port does happen, it won't ship with the other versions. "The verdict is out on what we can do to maximise the code for the Wii U, and we'll see [what happens]."

For now, Last Light won't be heading to Wii U.

Hm... nobody likes a rushed port. And they're not sure if Wii U will have the target audience.

Let's hope that they change their mind. It sounds like the Wii U is very easy to put ports on. And if Nintendo can get enough other hardcore games on it, they might follow suit.

It should arrive eventually, THQ really need the maximum revenue on each title they develop from here on in, otherwise it could be curtains.

It is a shame, most gamers will likely buy it on the other platforms if they have to wait.

Anyone else thinking 'and so it begins...'?

Typical situation, yet THQ won't hesitate to bring a new Spongebob to Wii U. It's things like this that really do make you shake your head and wonder why Third Parties later complain that Nintendo systems don't seem like a good home for their games.

I'm not sure it has anything to do with this particular situation causal vs. core. THQ is in dire straights right now. They are trying to profit on things that they are comfortable with and that they know. Whether eveyrone is aware or not..THQ has been looking over it's shoulder for the Publisher grim reaper, adn trying to avoid him at all costs. They have been dropping IPs and trying to play it safe. My guess is that if WiiU has a successful launch then maybe they will bring it over.

ebgeer, you actually make a very valid point, and one that I overlooked in my post. Many have indeed been predicting that THQ is the next publisher to bite the bullet, so it needs to be very careful how it makes its next few moves.

Nintendo fans can read the excellent novel in the meantime.

Doesn't surprise me really, if Nintendo keeps ANYTHING remotely close to Wii they can kiss the majority of M rated support good bye. Only devs that are insane or have balls will put M games on Wii U even with worries about sales...guess it's a good thing Suda 51 is insane & Tomanobu Itigaki has balls of steel that'd make even Duke Nukem's shrivel in shame...now I just need to hear what game Valhalla studios might be making for U.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
