Metroid No Longer Meeting Star Fox on Wii U on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The rumoured crossover project between two of Nintendo's most loved franchises, Star Fox and Metroid, is no more.

Last week the internet went frantic with word that Retro Studios was crafting a project that blends two Nintendo franchises together - space combat via Fox McCloud's team and lone planetary exploration with Samus. This project was said to be making its debut at this year's E3 Expo.

Those wanting a cross-over will have to stick it out for Super Smash Bros instead - according to the same source, the idea was merely a concept that had been thrown about during discussions as to which franchises could meet.

Would you have liked the two franchises to meet in Star Fox - Metroid: Fusion Saga? What other Nintendo series would you like a crossover?

I thought it was a pretty silly crossover, tbh. Retro are a great studio and I would love to see an original IP from them.

Thank goodness is all I've got to say about that. The Metroid series is criminaly ignored & this terrible idea would make it stay away from the public eye even more.

Thank god! they don't even occupy the same dimension!!!

I love Metroid games and its atmosphere and i would imagine the very presence of Fox McCloud would 'feel' weird. Slippy toad and Samus together erm NO.:-x

Just gimme an indipendant adventure in the Metroid Prime universe on Wii U and I'll jizz!

Wow everyone seems to hate this idea xD In the right hands, fellas, this COULD be pretty cool. I'm about as happy its not happening as I am disappointed. I never believe the pre-E3 net nonsense anyway.

I never believe anything is going to happen until it happens(ahem, Megaman Legends 3).

Kinda glad this is a rumor. I don't want half of a Metroid game and half of a Star Fox, give me a whole game of either...though preferably Metroid over Star Fox. Maybe it'll erase Other M from my memory banks.

Everyone doesn't like the idea?
I thought it sounded quite good.

Though I've not played either game in like over 5 years now.

Avoid Games Like the Plague, productivity++
