Nintendo's notorious friend codes system seems to be coming to an end on the Wii U's online implementation.
Speaking to Nintendo, GameTrailers Editor-in-Chief Shane Satterfield received confirmation that Nintendo's next system won't be reliant on friend codes, and instead use a different form of identification - presumably a username tied to Wii U accounts.
However, David Gibson, Head of Software & Services for Macquarie Capital Securities Japan recently tweeted that during meeting at E3 Nintendo mentioned that friend codes will return in some form, but little else was detailed.
It's likely that friend codes maybe used to bridge existing friends on the 3DS or original Wii perhaps.
What do you think of the news that Wii U won't be using conventional friend codes and using a far friendlier approach?
