Kirby 20th Anniversary - What

So Nintendo are celebrating Kirby's illustrious history with a compilation disc for the Wii. But what games will be playable?

The adorable yet strong pink puffball has adopted many fans in over two decades, charting a range of adventures on the home and console front, a handful of spin-offs and cameo appearances. Kirby even received his own animated cartoon and manga series.

The compilation will hit Japanese streets on July 19th for 3,800 yen (£30, $47, €38) and will include the following titles on the disc, covering most bases (other regions may vary):

  • Kirby’s Dream Land (Game Boy)
  • Kirby’s Adventure (NES)
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (Game Boy)
  • Kirby Super Star (SNES)
  • Kirby’s Dream Land 3 (SNES)
  • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)
The American edition will be called Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition and will be released this September - says IGN.

What do you think of the line-up for the Kirby anniversary disc? Are there any other titles that you want included?

They're all already available in the WiiShop/eShop. One of them is even FREE right now with Club Nintendo.

You get free games with Club Nintendo in Europe?

I doubt IkeFE is from Europe.

Anyway, it's almost what I said they would do: Simply putting the dol files already available on the shop channel on a disc. Didn't expect them to include the Game Boy games though, since that must have required a little extra effort for getting the Wii to emulate them... Unless at some point they had planned to put GB games on VC and they had the dol files already done for these ones as well...

I want that Kirby frisbee you could get with Nintendo Stars a few months ago!

And uhm, there are free VC/eShop games?!? Or do you mean it's part of the early adopters deal?

Apologies fellas. I meant the US Club Nintendo. Kirby Super Star is 150 "coins". I mentioned this only because I'm 80% sure the US will get the same game exactly.

Sorry for the confusion Smilie

Would have been nice to include Kirby's Airride or whatever it was called on the Cube (despite its haters) i never got to play it. Wouldn't have been too bad to put a Wii game or two on there either! Smilie For £30 is it even worth it?
