Download Castlevania, Mario, Luigi

During an investors briefing at E3 last week Nintendo highlighted a handful of third and first party 3DS titles to be available digitally.

Despite many gamers still appreciating and valuing the traditional game, box, manual approach to the ever-changing video game market, Nintendo aim to embrace the download market as an optional feature for those wanting to get the latest titles straight away.

The company won't be releasing the odd title here and there, with a solid selection coming to the eShop this year - including Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Paper Mario Sticker Star, Disney Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate and Kingdom Hearts 3D.

We’ve got a massive list of AAA content on the way from all of the biggest names in gaming that are all proven franchises, all exclusive to our platform, and all coming to stores both in physical and digital formats in the second half of 2012.

Neeto. Castlevania is the only one I'll consider picking up, but even then it will still be via physical copy.

However, this is a great foot forward for Nintendo. Things like this need to happen for them. It will help sales no doubt but the fact that they've taken the blindfold off(well, one eye) when it comes to online shows promise.

This line up validates and proves there is no shortage of great games for 3DS. It cannot be argued any longer once 2013 arrives.

You've got no interest in Kingdom Hearts OOORR Luigi's Mansion? Do you not like those series or something?

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

Had I not already gotten Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 in cartridge form, I probably would have gone solely digital for my 3DS...but now I feel like I need to complete my collection in cartridge form and don't want to mix and match.

Still undecided about which way to go with Wii U...

Luigi's Mansion looks cool and fun, but not something I'd pay for myself. I'd rent it though. Paper Mario looks cool, surprisingly, as I always though PM was lame.

I enjoyed console KH1&2 a fair bit but never got into the portable ones(Chain of Memories was a disaster). Another reason would be, while I'm not boycotting them as I am with Capcom, SE has dangled far too many carrots in my face for me to take them seriously anymore. They've lost most of their credibility with what they've done to Final Fantasy(sorry Az :p).

Personally, I need to see it(and possibly demo it) to believe it from SE these days, that goes for any game by them.

I hope they go through the 3DS back catalogue and stick up more of those games for digital purchase, would certainly help their sales. Games like Tales of the Abyss in particular.

If they can get whole 3DS games up for download, here's hoping for some DS software too. Smilie

Me and my brother share 3DS games, so digital is going to be out for most releases, but one game I will definitely but digitally is Animal Crossing, because we will get a copy each. That feels like a game that is meant to be always available on the system.

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

Animal Crossing would be brilliant as a digital game. Online-based titles like Kid Icarus and Mario Tennis would be advantageous too. Smilie

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, Paper Mario Sticker Star and Disney Epic Mickey Power of Illusion are the only ones here I would consider downloading, just incase I don't go for the physical copies.

Dream Drop Distance's presence on that list must mean Square have ironed out the Digital Download trouble they had with Disney a while back. Certainly gives me fresh hope that Birth By Sleep will make it to PSN (and eShop would be nice too Smilie) one day.

Definitely. It is a perfect game for that - a type of game where something is always going on and you may want to jump in for just a minute (or spend hours there).

Personally I mostly hope this means the size of 3DS download games is made much bigger.. from the kinds of things Nicalis has said there's quite a download limit, i.e. Cave Story remastered music not fitting in the game (which annoyed me I love that soundtrack).

So yeah bigger eShop games please! If you can have full retail games available for download then take the sizelimit off eShop games geez.

I believe theres a sliding scale - if you sale a lot of copys of one game you get more space for your next.
I think I read that somewhere.
