New Super Mario Bros 2 Gets Golden Review from Famitsu on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Japanese magazine Famitsu has praised Nintendo's latest platforming romp for 3DS, New Super Mario Bros 2, scoring 36/40.

In the magazine's usual style, four reviewers each gave the game independent scores out of ten, which are tallied up in a bid to make the rare perfect 40. The porky plumber just missed out with each score coming in at 9/10, allowing the game to sit alongside Pokemon Black and White 2 - which also achieved the same.

Nintendo have also rolled out a series of adverts to promote the title days before release in Japan - July 28th, touching briefly on the updated 3DS XL hardware which is also due to cause chaos at retail on the same day.

We found New Super Mario Bros 2 a delight in our E3 playthrough preview, and are rather excited to collect those all-important coins with Mario and Luigi this August.

So according to this not as good as the original game, which has less coins.

I want to play this, but I guess there are probably no good 3DS emulators yet. Looks like a fun game, same as always, but surely great.

The same magazine that gave Nintendogs 40/40.

The review seems to be getting a better response here than I saw on another site. I don't really trust Famitsu anymore, but I find this score believable.

I see it being just under the awesome level of NSMB Wii.

Like video game music?!

Apart from the recycled graphical style, I never saw much wrong with this game. I'm glad it turned out great!

It's probably best to not trust any person you don't know, and especially who doesn't know YOU, to give you advice on which games you will have the most fun with. Whether it's Famitsu or any other game magazine/website/programme; it's just a bunch of men who play videogames for a living and then write a mildly entertaining article on it whilst trying to uphold the illusion that they write independently. They don't, so most of the time you're just watching and reading advertisements, which I don't think is particularly stimulating to be honest.

If you want recommendations, why not rely on people you spend time with, you connect with. Who give you great gifts, who know you. And even better, trust your instinct. You know you want a game when you see it and hear it. You don't need anything else. Isn't that how everybody did it before the game article writers showed up?

You are not alone. I am here with you. Though we're far apart...you're always in my heart. Love u!
