When New Super Mario Bros. 2 hits retails, fans will also be able to download the title. But just how much will the plumber fill?

Nintendo have yet to disclose any official usage data for the game, but figures have become public ahead of the title's digital release. Game sizes certainly do vary on the 3DS, with the more graphically intense projects eating up well over a 3GB, Capcom's Resident Evil: Revelations clocking in at 3.15GB. Others are by far more manageable, and the latest Mario platformer will offer a tasty adventure without cramming your 3DS storage.

2950 blocks will be required to store/run the game, which translates to around 370MB. Brain Training 3D, which will also be up for download, comes in at 1600 blocks (200MB).

The default 3DS memory solution, a regular SD card, carries 2GB of storage - plenty for a handful of 3DS downloads, apps and game saves. In the long run bigger cards maybe required for those games dominated by rich cinematics and sound.

I've got an 8GB SD card with about 50000 blocks (clean, I've got about 45000 left). I should be okay for a while. The only game I see myself really downloading in the future is Animal Crossing however.

Why can't Nintendo just use megabytes like everybody else? Sometimes they are just different for their own sakes. Okay, on Gamecube it was just saves, but when you're downloading games you shouldn't need to check an unofficial website for specs.

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

I've got a 16GB card in my 3DS, so I'm not worried about storing games. I'll get plenty on that.

As much as I like owning physical copies they take up so much space that I haven't got. As much as I hate to say it, digital downloads that I can carry around in my 3DS are looking like the best option for me. I just can't have games all over the place anymore. My life has changed & so have my needs. :-/

Having the games on the system itself is a huge plus. Unless it's a big adventure game that I want to beat within a few weeks (Zelda etc.), I like to switch between games a lot. I'm already growing tired of having to swap Wii discs all the time!
