eShop Discounts for Mario Games This August on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo of America are celebrating the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 next month by reducing the prices of various eShop downloads.

Nintendo are following in the steps of other publishers who have download offers by giving players the opportunity to sample the plumber's more memorable adventures before leaping into Mario's latest 3D installment.

  • Super Mario Bros - NES (July 26 - Aug. 1) - $3.99
  • Super Mario Land - GameBoy (Aug. 2 - Aug. 8) - $2.99
  • Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - GameBoy (Aug. 9 - Aug. 15) - $2.99
  • Mario's Picross - GameBoy (Aug. 16 - Aug. 22) - $2.99
The 3DS title then hits retail from August 19.

Will you be downloading any of these past Super Mario delights on your 3DS/XL?

What Nintendo should do is throw as many past games as possible onto the e-shop and then sell them in bundles like steam sales. They'd get my money and I have an aversion toward download titles.

Edit: Aversion from download titles. "aversion toward" is an oxymoron. See? I kinda know my own native tongue. Thank you 3 years of higher education! Smilie

Discounts on Nintendo's virtual store, FINALLY.

Of course I still won't be buying any... I have most of the games on cartridge and I don't plan on replaying them anyway.

The sales are marginal as well, like £1 off. Not the 50% sales I'm used to on XBL.

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.
