Watch Super Mario Bros on 3DS and 3DS XL on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Wonder if the new Nintendo 3DS XL screen makes a difference? Have a look at New Super Mario Bros 2 on both systems.

The folk over at Kotaku recently put the new hardware to the test against the original Nintendo 3DS by playing the latest Mario platforming epic side by side. The XL's screens are around 90% bigger thanks to the enlarged 3DS shell, and there's a fair leap in impact and the immersive 3D effect.

In our own hands on session we praised the console's "clearer, larger output image", noting how reports of pixelation issues by some were simple over-reactions. On an overall scale, it seems bigger is better in this situation.

Have you tried/purchased a Nintendo 3DS XL console? Do you prefer the screen size and quality compared to the original?

Definitely, speaker issues aside. Smilie

Just trying to find a good carry case for it now. :/

I tried one in my local GameStation on SM3DL, and I thought the pixellation was off-putting. I could really notice it.

Add me on anything. I'm always looking for new friends/opponents/town visitors/chances to appear more popular than I actually am.

I find with more use, you get used to the larger pixels. Still, I'm not sure with I prefer, the fact that I get a bigger screen or the fact I could have a clearer screen on my regular 3DS.

The hardware itself is better though, so I'm definitely happy about that. The new d-pad feels much better. I think overall, I have mixed thoughts about it, but generally they're things I can live with or get used to.
