Nintendo Gamer Ends After Two Decades on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

After twenty years of Nintendo coverage, the UK's unofficial Nintendo magazine has printed its final issue.

Formely known as Super Play, Nintendo Gamer will release the final issue, 80, in stores next week. This edition will explore over two decades of coverage, features and include every cover from the every early days to a generation of Wii and 3DS.

Super Play first brought Mario and co. to monthly glossies on Thursday 1st October 1992, was rebranded "N64 Magazine", "NGC", "N-Gamer" and more recently Nintendo Gamer. Wil Overton, who penned artwork in the publication's early days will be back to "end the magazine the same way it began - with a fantastic, eye-catching image".

However the Nintendo Gamer website will remain, given a shift into a more digital age.

Future publishing will continue to work on the Official Nintendo Magazine, after recently shutting down US magazine Nintendo Power.

Crazy that two long-running magazines are stopping right after another, I wonder if it's only Nintendo mags stopping or if it's a lot of magazines.

I'll definitely be picking the last issue up. I can't wait to see what the cover looks like, I loved the hand-drawn illustrations in old gaming magazines.

Good luck to the ngamer guys, their reviews were good and surprisingly honest(with the exception of red steel 1). Sad to see them go.

Magazines in general are having a tough time. It's hard for them to stay relevant when the internet can provide more information, is always up-to-date (as opposed to a new issue coming out every month or whenever), and often offers information for practically free.

Shame. Used to get NGamer but stopped when they didn't include the discs anymore, a better mag than ONM definitely.

I still have the first three issues of SuperPlay.

I threw away all my old N64 magazines. I'm sure they have been recycled really well now.

You are not alone. I am here with you. Though we're far apart...you're always in my heart. Love u!
