Pikachu 3DS XL is heading to Europe on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Anyone craving a little love for Nintendo's adorable electric mouse can soon grab hold of the limited edition Pikachu 3DS XL in Europe.

The hardware, a white 3DS XL with an outer yellow Pikachu shell, was confirmed for the continent during Nintendo Direct today - alongside word of a Mario Kart 7 3DS XL bundle. No release date was given, but it will be available before the end of 2012.

The console itself was available as an exclusive for various Pokémon Centre stores across Japan.

Why can't the 3DS actually be yellow? And why does Pikachu's face have to be upside down?

Not sure - kind of a cop out imo, that they've kept it pretty much 80% white and only a dab of yellow. I know it's to keep costs down, but a full on yellow XL would be ace. They could rehash it for, erm, Donkey Kong 3DS?
