Bandai Namco has revealed strong Japanese sales of Taiko no Tatsujin: Chibi Dragon to Fushigi na Orb on Nintendo 3DS. The rhythm title, released back in July 2012, has already sold 270,000 units over in Japan alone. Whilst not as dominant as the first Nintendo DS game from 2007 that sold more than 700,000 copies, it is certainly a turnaround for a series that was on severe decline across both Wii and DS due to over-saturation. Whether or not a Western release will ever come about under its translated name of Taiko Drum Master: The Little Dragon and the Mysterious Orb, is sadly unconfirmed at the moment.
In other sales news, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has reached 840,000 units sold worldwide on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so the incoming Wii U edition should easily help the latest release fly past the million mark pretty soon. Cubed3 recently took a look at why the Wii U version looks so appealing - be sure to check it out.
Also of interest is another fighting game, SoulCalibur V, which has surpassed 1.38 million sales thanks to selling a further 680,000 in the first half of the 2012-2013 fiscal year. At the beginning of this year a retail insider claimed that the game was also heading to Nintendo 3DS, but so far nothing has transpired. Could it arrive on Wii U if Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition prove successful? We shall see...
