Watch How Video Chat Works on Wii U: Reggie Talks Japanese on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Ever wanted to see what goes on between Nintendo presidents? See Reggie Fils-Aime talking in Japanese in a Wii U chat demonstration.

The two main men behind the company, Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aime break language barriers and have a hearty chat session, drawing on one another using the touch screen. The potential for all sorts of... interesting live drawing here.

Registered friends can take part in Wii U chat sessions using a dedicated Wii U app using the GamePad alone or in tandem with a TV set. The controller also notifies player if there's a call waiting during a game by flashing the home button as an alert.

At least they're realistically awkward, like most video chat conversations.

Yep that's why I don't like doing it much!
(but these guys are kind of funnily awkward omg I love how Reggie drew a pink heart)

Also wow Iwata is actually pretty good at English compared to Reggie's Japanese, still I guess Iwata speaks English a lot now.

Iwata's English is at a really high level compared to Reggie's Japanese, but at least Reggie made an effort. And that's what counts. I like when Iwata speaks subscripted, like in the unboxing video. He's fairly funny.

Video chat certainly seems promising, it really does deliver a great experience. If my family members in Ireland or somewhere else in the world were to get a Wii U, I could see myself using it a lot. I know we have Skype, but this seems too awesome. While I'd be fine without video chat, it definitely is a nice addition to the Wii U's many features.

A great idea and having it on the controller out the box is ace.

Video quality seems low but that's to be expected. Hopefully as popularity increases and support for a second gamepad is introduced they will release an upgraded Gamepad with a hd camera and some nintendo magic... psst vitality sensor
