The first official screenshots for Square Enix's Nintendo 3DS remake of Dragon Quest VII have today been revealed.
Developed by ArtePiazza, the team that remade Dragon Quest IV, V and VI for Nintendo DS and co-produced Opoona on Wii, are back at the helm of the 3DS overhaul of the acclaimed PlayStation RPG. Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden, as it is known as for its enhanced portable rendition, features a complete doing over of the graphics engine, whilst also introducing a fully orchestrated soundtrack by the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, the exchanging of lithographs using StreetPass and three save files.
Some gameplay changes have also been made to the game. Instead of random encounters, enemies can be seen on the map; a shard radar is on the bottom screen, with new shards obtained through StreetPass and "special shards" being introduced; and finally, character models can be seen during battles, with their appearances changing depending on the jobs selected.
A selection of the first screenshots are below, and more can be found in the game's media gallery.
Dragon Quest VII: Warriors of Eden is due for release in Japan on 7th February, 2013.
