Sakurai: Wait a While Longer for Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS News on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The brain behind the Super Smash Bros. series, Masahiro Sakurai, has spoken out on speculation behind the new games.

The popular Nintendo fighter is heading to the Wii U and 3DS at an undisclosed point in the future, but it's going to be an excruciating waiting game for fans to hear any news from Sakurai and his team.

"I'll need to have you guys wait a while longer", he mentioned in an interview with Polygon this week. He even felt that "it'd be better if I could be forgotten by gamers for a while", as the game designer wishes to remain quiet on the the ambitious new project.

For example, when I tweet about playing some game, some people immediately get the idea that that character is in the new Smash Bros. Then people fan the flames on it, people start to think it's really true, people get angry about it. Nobody benefits.

So from that, it's as it says on the tin: a long waiting game that Sakurai hopes will "really make that wait worth it", but at least we know his stance on the lack of Smash news.

Nintendo is expected to at least make some form of announcement on the new Super Smash Bros. games next year.

Don't blame him. Must be hard with all the psycho fans on his back. Glad he's not doing another Smash Bros Dojo "one reveal a day." Don't show us shit, Sakurai.

Stuff like this makes me wonder if it really was a good idea to announce SSB4 before development even started. But then again, some fans would bother Sakurai without mercy about every little thing anyway. Poor guy, really. I hope he had a nice break doing Kid Icarus: Uprising for a change. Some people really need to chill the hell out. It's gonna come when it's ready, no amount of bickering or begging will speed up the process.

I'm just hoping after he whinged about a lack of new characters when making brawl he includes a Xenoblade, The Last Story and Pandora's Tower representative. We don't need anymore starfox or earthbound characters.

I really hope there isn't a Dojo this time around. The amount of whining over Brawl's final release would have been greatly reduced had little been known about it in terms of unlockables.

I have to agree with everything that's been said already (except less EB characters Smilie ).

I really hope everyone can relax and give Sakurai some space. There's a huge opportunity here to do something really neat with the franchise, and the less stress the mastermind has to deal with, the better job he will do in the long run.

I'm bursting at the seams to find out what this game is going to be like, and I can't WAIT to play it, but the last thing I would do is bug Sakurai on twitter and hawkeye every word he says trying to figure out who is going to be in the roster.

Like video game music?!

Do a Barrel Roll!<

He can do all the earthbound and starfox characters he wants as long as they're different characters this time and not just different skins on the same exact moveset.

NO. MORE. CLONES.
