XSeed Unchains the Nintendo 3DS eShop

XSeed has announced that they will be bringing Unchained Blades to the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

Unchained Blades is a first-person dungeon crawling RPG, in the style of Etrian Odyssey, Wizardry, and Dark Spire. The game features classic dungeon crawler design, with 4 members to a party and tile based maps, as well as hand drawn monster and character sprites. The game's title comes from an "Unchain" system, in which monsters can be "unchained" which allows them to join the user's party. Up to four monsters can be recruited, one for each human member of the user's party.

Toshio Akashi, previously of the Lunar series, directed the project and the game's story was written by Grandia writer Takashi Hino. Unchained Blades boasts 60 hours of gameplay, and looks to be the biggest eShop exclusive title yet. Look for Unchained Blades in North America on January 3rd, 2013 at a price of $29.99.
