Smash Brothers U and 3DS to Appear at E3 this June on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Amidst the onslaught of Wii U announcements, Iwata mentioned that Super Smash Bros.  for Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will appear at E3 2013, the big American video game conference that takes place June 11th to 13th this year. Iwata said that Nintendo would "reveal the first game screens of the new Super Smash Bros. at this year's E3."

No word on video or playable versions, so we may have to wait a little longer. Iwata stated that Super Smash Bros. is "a huge development undertaking and we need more time before it launches." So no word on a release timeframe yet, either.

Given that a Mario 3D platformer by Nintendo EAD (Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Mario 3D Land), Mario Kart, X from Monolith Soft (Xenoblade), Yoshi Land, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, new info on Zelda Wii U, The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, and Wii U VC has all been revealed or spoken about in today's Nintendo Direct conference, we think we can wait a little while longer.

If you'd like to watch the full direct, all 35 minutes of it, you can do so here.

I'm surprised this news isn't blowing up on more sites faster. I'm being over-optimistic and hoping some new (Not all) new characters will be shown.

Well, it is just screens, and we're still 4 and 1/2 months to E3, so there's not too much to get hyped over yet. The closer E3 gets, the hyper things will get, I'm sure! =)

Aha, true. But I'm still way overhyped for this.

I know it's only screenshots... but I still CANNOT wait to see them at E3 this year. I've been waiting for a new Smash Bros. for a while now.. (I know, I'm greedy!) so even seeing some screenshots and hearing a bit more about the game itself will make me feel a bit better. Smilie

I hope they do what they did with Brawl and release the dojo site. Release a few new features/characters/items in the game every week up to release. Would get really excited for it then!

Methinks it'll probably be an end of 2014 affair at the earliest - hopefully by summer next year but I doubt it.! I know a game of this magnitude takes time, but should definitely be on the top of Nintendo's priorities!
