Nintendo News: Petition: Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console Games to be Released in 60hz Page 1 at Nintendo Cubed3

Please take a moment to sign our petition to Nintendo to release Wii U Virtual Console titles in 60Hz for PAL regions.

Within the aftermath of the news that Nintendo have started to release Wii U Virtual Console games in the older and slower 50hz format in PAL regions, we would like Nintendo Europe to make a change for the better.

Nintendo are aware of the situation given the masses of posts in the Balloon Fight Miiverse community about the 50hz vs 60hz situation, but to raise awareness and to try and perusade Nintendo to consider 60hz releases in Europe and Australia for PAL gamers, we have created a petition.

The original Nintendo Wii Virtual Console was heavily criticised for classic games outputting in 50Hz as opposed to the 60hz. Nintendo has addressed this on the 3DS, but the Wii U has taken a step back for the worse.

50Hz titles are generally 17% slower, have potential image and sound issues, letterbox bordering when compared to the same games in NTSC regions.

We would like Nintendo to change the way Virtual Console titles are handled in Europe and Australia and allow us to download the 60Hz games as the developers had originally intended, or at least have the option to if we wish.

The Wii U Virtual Console is launching this Spring - there is still time for Nintendo do make a difference for PAL gamers.

Please sign this petition so we can clearly highlight to Nintendo that this is an issue.

Done and done. Operation Rainfall was a mere drop in the ocean. Operation Cloudburst for PAL gamers. This scandal has gone on for far too many decades.

Aye - thanks - Not everyone has access to a Wii U so hoping this will do some good, we have a few contacts we can pass this along to. I'm sure fans wouldn't mind waiting a little longer for Wii U VC releases in Europe providing we can get them in the correct format or at least have the option to download the 60hz edition.

It's the inconsistency, 3DS VC titles are in true 60Hz but for some reason the full console versions are still watered down.

Whoever did the petition, please let other big Nintendo sites (like Gonintendo, NWR, N-europe), know about it. This is a really big issue for us European VC fans and it needs to get as much attention as possible.

Like our webmaster said above, he did that (not sure which websites he contacted though). If none of them picked up on this, maybe it's their own fault for not wanting to cooperate.

Let's all spread the word about it and make a long chain of reactions, it needs to change.

I pretty much emailed everyone of our contacts - big multiformat sites to Nintendo blogs - to spread awareness and link to the petition but no-one's posted it so far unfortunately.

A few forums have picked it up, but nothing significant so far unfortunately.

Will try to get as much exposure for this as possible, but I wonder if it's just something people may not be too fussed about - the fact you have to register/sign in with FB/Twitter to the petition maybe throwing a few people off too I suppose!

Man, as soon as 50Hz Balloon Trip came on, I literally burst out laughing. Laughing in pure DISGUST. It's actually disgusting.

The comparison vid is a great idea, though. Wondering if there's any other popular YouTubers who might do the same sort of thing.

Hahaha! That surely has to be over-exagerated! Is this true? I feel like i might not be able to cope with the extra speed! Games like F-Zero would be much faster! :O Maybe thats why GX might have felt like lightning fast compared to the predecessors!

I do get annoyed with the slowness on Street Fighter 2 sometimes....maybe its all beginning to make more sense now!

Most people didn't know, either. But once you go 60Hz, you never want to go back. I physically cannot play 50Hz games any more.

I'm going through Metroid Prime 2 at the moment and that forces you play in 60hz! At least Retro knew what made sense...back in 2004...

It's things like that which bug me. Nintendo made the steps that meant you could only play such high profile games like Metroid Prime 2 in 60Hz only. Now they go back and force feed 50Hz games back to us.
