Buried within the bigger announcements this week comes confirmation of a Nintendo 3DS Data Transfer Tool heading to Japan this March.
For those who might have a little bit too much cash to spare or perhaps borrowed a Nintendo 3DS cartridge from a friend, the 3DS Data Transfer Tool will allow you to use your game save with a digital copy of a game.
For example if playing Super Mario 3D Land in physical cartridge form and you would like to use the same save data with a downloaded/eShop version, this tool would be your friend.
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed the news in a mini Nintendo Direct broadcast earlier today in Japan, also highlighting a handful of games to be added to the Nintendo 3DS eShop service on January 30th: Culdcept, Pocket Soccer League Calcio Bit, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Pokémon Rumble Blast and Nintendogs + Cats.
Nintendo have yet to confirm details for the tool outside Japan, but it's more than likely to make an appearance this year with Nintendo's increasing digital activity.
Do you own a 3DS cartridge and the digital equivilent? Will you be using this tool with your Nintendo 3DS titles?
