Mario Kart Arcade GP DX Announced for Japan on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Namco Bandai and Nintendo have once again teamed up to bring Mario Kart to the arcades this summer in Japan. Mario Kart Arcade GP DX will be the third in the line of arcade racing titles in the series, and will be on display at the Japan Amusement Expo from February 15 to 16.

Detailed in this PDF document, Mario Kart Arcade GP DX features a single-player Grand Prix mode, a co-op mode for two players, "Clone" Battle mode for one player, plus a four-player competitive mode. As with previous titles, players will be able to capture a picture of their face to display as an avatar during the game. Some elements from the 3DS' Mario Kart 7 look to have made their way into the game, as well as Pac-Man and a Taiko no Tatsujin character, if the images at the bottom of the screens are any indication.

Mario Kart Arcade GP DX will be released this summer in Japan. Take a look at the arcade cabinet and images from the game below.

Loved the first two, but damn, a game at these is expensive Smilie. 2€ a single round of races? That's a total ripoff. Why won't they merge the first two titles and release them on Wii U? Or at least made some of the tracks from these playable on the consoles, in some form... like a DLC pack for the next MK on Wii U? At least that would be "something".

EDIT: I wonder what arcade board this runs on... I guess they can't be using the Triforce board anymore, since that tech is pretty old by now (and I can't see it mentioned anywhere in the PDF document, so my guess is this must be either one of Namco's boards, or a totally new piece of hardware, possibly derived from the Wii U's)

Last time I played and got beat by little girl - I let her win at the last moment.

And that right there is our new Wii U Mario Kart game that will be released at the end of 2013.

Unlikely! Although it would be good to see some of the tracks remade? I agree with Rudy that maybe they could bundle the games together and release a WiiU game or download.

Mind you, they must be raking it in at the arcades...i would say that releasing it as a game would probably dent profits!
