Prototype Image for New PlayStation 4 Controller Leaked on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

An image of what appears to be the next PlayStation controller have started to do the Internet rounds today.

Destructoid leaked a photo of the design for the PlayStation 4 controller, an early prototype, yesterday. Alongside the different body and altered analogue sticks, the key change here appears to some form of screen across the centre, together with a speaker.

Finally, the large glowing light at the top could indicate similar tech to PlayStation move, incorporated into the controller itself as a hybrid. If the controller does boast touch support on the screen, the next PlayStation controller could very well be a condensed form of Nintendo's own Wii U GamePad - with all players having access to additional information on a private screen.

Sony are expecting to reveal new details on the new PlayStation console at a dedicated event next week.

What do you think of the potential PlayStation 4 controller/prototype design?

Crap. I thought they were going to ditch the Dual Shock design. I HATE it. Still, it is only the prototype. So there's hope. lol

Sony is hilariously predictable. "Nintendo releases a controller with a screen on it. Sony quickly follows suit." Smilie

Chance favors the prepared mind.

It's widely believe the center touch pad is not a screen - just a pad like the back of the Vita.

Having a speaker is one of the most underrated features to be added to controllers. I loved it on Wii and I love it on Wii U.

Same terrible controller, now with a tiny useless touch screen. That's my personal opinion. I'm sure hardcore Sony fans will be satisfied with it. Same layout, better dpad and sticks. If they were going to copy Nintendo, they should have just gone with a little display screen on the controller. They really need to move the sticks though. They're much more comfortable moved up, like the Wii U and 360.

oh, what a supprise it looks the same AGAIN, and it might copy the competition *rolls eyes*

Also, i am very depressed Nintendos split-design (wiimote/nunchuck) hasnt become standard Smilie
I liked putting my hands where I like.

A frontal touchpad for thumbs should be useful in some games.

Track n field? A police scanner in gta6 which, no doubt, will be a launch title. Beyond that I'm Struggling to think of Non novelty ways that the touchpad could be used. Also fall inline Sony. Move that left analog up. U copy everything else why not this

What would b impressive is if 1 of them Samsung oled flexible youum screens came out of the controller. Nintendo should re style the wiiu incorporating 1 of them screens in a wiiremote.. Would b gameover

It definitely looks to be more of a change than the previous Dual Shocks. I'd say Why Try to improve Perfection on Sony's behalf, but then I bought a WiiU Pro Controller so that point is moot. Smilie
