Whilst Luigi is the Nintendo star this year, Pokémon is also in the spotlight with the release of the next Mystery Dungeon game.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is due for release in Europe on 17th May, and slightly earlier in North America on 24th March.

The latest installment in the Mystery Dungeon series features Pikachu at the helm, joined by various Unova critters including starters Snivy, Oshawott and Tepig to battle through randomly generated dungeons. Gates to Infinity also includes the ability for trainers to take snapshots of round objects like CDs and plates to spawn portals called Magnagates.

Nintendo has also confirmed that the release will also contain bonus DLC content as a limited-time free download at launch, with more paid DLC to be announced at a later date.

Finally for those in North America who purchase  a new Nintendo 3DS XL console and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity (after February 14th) can download a selected free Nintendo 3DS title.

Oh noes. Now I really need to get a 3DS. Next generation and a Mystery Dungeon in 3D!? I don't care if their imagination is getting worse with each new generation of pokemon, it's still a great series and the critters are sooo adorable and awesome!
Not too fond of the fact I can't be Skitty in that one, but Pikachu will have to suffice I guess.
