Ubisoft: Fans Want Yearly Assassin

Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat feels as long as Assassin's Creed remains high quality, gamers will return for more annually.

With Assassin's Creed IV sailing onto consoles sooner than many had expected, just over a year after Assassin's Creed III, it left some fans questioning whether the forthcoming release could sustain the quality of the past games if produced in a short space of time. Could Assassin's Creed see a new release on a yearly basis?

Mallat feels that "the frequency of coming out with the game is not an issue at all" and that gamers "expect more and more of that content. So it's natural to be able to provide that content. The gamers are happy and it's our job to make them happy."

Will the Assassins' Creed audience become turned off with too many installments? "No. The players will tell us. Right now there are more and more coming into the franchise, so I don't see that day."

What are your thoughts on more new Assassin's Creed titles on a yearly basis?

If they want to quickly devalue a bankable franchise, then yeah, go ahead! Smilie

Ubisoft board meeting bullet points

  • Milk it dry! Milk it dry!!!!!

Unlike CoD I feel like AC has a lot of ideas to offer, it's milking, but there are worse franchises they could milk. I'm not even really a fan of AC myself, but I agree that as long as it keeps a high standard of quality and keeps, evolving, giving new ideas and gameplay mechanics, I don't think it's a big problem.
