During Nintendo Direct today Satoru Iwata confirmed that the expected Spring Update is due to arrive next week.
The Nintendo president highlighted that the first of two major Wii U system updates is expected to launch during the week starting 22nd April. As well as addressing performance issues with the Wii U menus, the update will also include:
- Being able to boot into Wii mode by holding the "B button" when loading the Wii.
- Download and install software while the Nintendo Wii U is off
- Support for Virtual Console, starting the day after the Wii U update, including off-TV play using the Wii U GamePad.
