Cubed3 Plays | Super Metroid (SNES) - A 100% Speedrun on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

To celebrate the upcoming release of Super Metroid on the Wii U Virtual Console, Rudy Lavaux tackles the SNES classic.

In the latest Cubed3 Plays video features, the goal was to attempt to beat a previous personal record time of 1 hour and 55 minutes, clearing the entire game with 100% of items collected. The video also discusses where each item in Super Metroid is located, for those wanting a walkthrough as well.

What to know whether a new record was set? You'll have to watch the video to find out.

The game used was the PAL version with no cheats or tool assist enabled, i.e. a good old fashioned speedrun.

Are you a Super Metroid  fan? What is your personal record for completing the SNES classic?

Big fan of 2D "Metroidvania" and love this run, the timings is pretty good. I wasn't able to watch it all but great work all round. Must be painful doing it in a single sitting, so kudos to you for doing so in one stretch.

Thanks Mother Brian (is that a typo or was it intended Smilie?)

It's not so painful doing it in one sitting, the game isn't exactly long to begin with, when you know it by heart.

Might do a Resident Evil (Rebirth or 2) speedrun in the future.
