SEGA have highlighted that the upcoming release of Yakuza on Wii U is intended to be an audience experiment.
Instead of dedicating resources into creating a brand new Yakuza experience for Wii U, SEGA are releasing an HD version of the first two games on Nintendo's system later this year. In an interview, producer Toshihiro Nagoshi noted how the release is an experiment to see how many Wii U owners pick up the game, "to see how people respond", before considering new titles like Yakuza for the platform.
As for the 3DS, there aren't any plans for a Yakuza release, "I'd do it if it were okay to have a Yakuza game without many people walking around the city... But it would be forcing it, no?"
What do you think of the idea - is there room on Wii U for more mature titles like Yakuza?
