Beyond Good & Evil 2 director Michel Ancel has commented on the forthcoming project and why it wasn't developed for current generation.
Fans have been crying out for a sequel to Beyond Good & Evil for years, however Ancel feels that "was too challenging to put that on [current] consoles. I don't say the consoles were not good enough, I don't say the team was not good enough, but you have to scale what you want to do and the console itself."
With new hardware out, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Ancel confirmed that Ubisoft "want to try again making that game... Not just a sequel, but something that really makes all the ideas that we had for the first one possible now with these consoles."
Ancel feels that the new game needs more freedom in design, something that "was in Beyond Good & Evil 1 but it was not as much as we wanted."
Ancel didn't comment on the potential of a Wii U version, however.
