The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD to Contain Hero Mode on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The rumoured extra difficulty mode for The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD has been confirmed by Nintendo as Hero Mode.

The additional difficulty was mentioned in a retailer listing last month and Nintendo has confirmed the new feature in a hands-on session.

Those who opt into the Hero Mode, which is to be available from the start, will encounter a far harder adventure: enemies deal double damage and there won't be hearts available - only potions and fairies will aid recovery.

Will you take on The Wind Waker HD in normal or Hero mode?

Am disappointed that Nintendo haven't added anything to this release to make it stand out. The faster boat and streamlined fetch quest will just make the game even shorter so something like a Master Quest would have gone a long way to separating this version to the original.

Will still get it like as I love the game/ Will definately go straight into Hero Mode.

This is still more than other developers do with their HD "remakes" which are just upscaled versions of PS2/Xbox/GC games. Smilie

That's true but they do sell them at a budget-esque price as bundles Smilie

IGN has a nice article on the new features. It has Pictobox improvements (you can now make pictures of Link), Only some Triforce pieces have to be salvaged, you can move around in 1st person, etc.

There are definitely gameplay improvements from what we've played so far, that's true - it looks and handles just lovely. Hero mode is good too, but I do agree that there needed to be a Master Quest for it to really stand out!
