Nintendo have acquired a stake in Panasonic's PUX development kit to help develop new software engine and titles.
Confirmed today, Nintendo will own a 27% stake in PUX, whilst Panasonic will still retain the majority at 51%, with the remaining proportion publicly owned. The kit includes various tools to enhance development, including voice, writing, face, gesture and object recognition plus video codecs and 3D conversion features.
In 2011 Nintendo made an acquisition of a similar group, MobiClip, who currently work as the European Research & Development division, producing video codecs for various 3DS and Wii titles.
The partnership will see Nintendo bringing game development experience to Panasonic's media and recognition suite to develop new applications and functionality.
