Aonuma: Legend of Zelda Film Should be More Interactive, Considers 3DS in a Cinema on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Zelda producer Aonuma recently spoke about his ideas on how a Legend of Zelda movie might work.

Given that The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo's more adventurous franchises, many fans have attempted production of Hollywood-style adaptations, but Nintendo wouldn't want "it the same as any other movie", admitted Aonuma.

One of the ideas batted about with series creator Shigeru Miyamoto would be to make a Zelda film "more interactive", with one of the ideas involving bringing a "3DS into the theater and that leads you into participating in it somehow", Aonuma said. Nintendo would "want to somehow change what a movie is."

Should a Zelda film be more immersive, or  should an adaptation simply be a standalone film?

I'm very much in two worlds about this - I'd love an interactive Zelda experience, but perhaps only as a smaller web series for the home.

A film really should be, a  film. Having people faffing about with tablets/3DSes/mobiles in a cinema would be irritating. You already have muppets pulling out their phones to text or check the time, so this would be one step for the worse imo.

That's true, muppets do pull their phones out for social media/texting etc but if all the people in the cinema were doing it to interact in the movie then it would be different and non-distracting as you'd be playing part in this too.

Although I can't exactly see Odeon, Vue, Cineworld jumping on to this anytime soon...

I like the idea though, hope they develop it!

If the audience collectively has trouble with the water temple, then the movie takes longer to finish.

arg,no. Just no.

Interactive movies are just choose-your-own adventures...poor ones at that.
Unless you create a fully procedral world, with procedral character movations, your always better off with a single, tight.

Just give the franchise to Ghibli and let them draw prettyness and have done with it.
