Will you stream movies and TV via Hulu Plus on the 3DS?

Will there be 3D content??

Finally! This was first announced in fall of 2011!

Unlikely since there aren't any major shows aren't filmed in 3D (especially shows that Hulu has rights to)

Netflix has 3D content and streams 3D to the PS3 and certain TVs. The 3DS definitely deserves an update to be able to stream 3D movies.

Still waiting for Netflick in europe on the 3DS Smilie

Netflicks a great value service, but its strange to be on the Wii but not 3DS.

As for 3D streams -  Its been a huge oversight of Nintendo not to support YouTube on the 3DS, as theres a lot of 3D content on it, and it supports many delivery methods.
Uploading from the 3DS to Youtube would have been a win-win for both Google and Nintendo.

Would be good to have BBC iPlayer/4oD/ITV Player/LOVEFiLM on the 3DS. Would be nice to have the download feature rather than streaming though....

Netflix is on the 3DS? Just looked it up on my 3DS. It's there.

To be honest, with the advent of high resolution smartphones and seemingly ubiquitious laptops and tablets, it's almost pointless now to have these services on 3DS. But I suppose it's good to have the option.

A few years ago, having online video streaming on a Nintendo DS would have been a big deal. Now, I can't say I'd ever load up an online movie on my handheld console when I'd without doubt have my smartphone with me - assuming I'm not trying to save the smartphone's battery.

The only way Nintendo can really make a special pitch for folks to actually use this kinda stuff is if they really work the 3D angle. And they've failed to do that so far. Because of this, it feels like Nintendo is just playing catch-up, as in "yeah, after x amount of years, we're finally offering what everyone else already offers" verses providing anything intereting or new.

Aren't you in North America? He's looking for it in Europe.

But a huge audience of the 3DS (and other game systems) is kids who don't have smart phones.

I don't think there's really much Nintendo can do about it. Netflix and Hulu develop their own apps, Nintendo doesn't. Also, for 3D Hulu just doesn't have 3D content and for Netflix to be supported on the 3DS it would require Netflix to re-encode their videos for it. It's not a big issue, as Netflix already encodes their videos in a ridiculous number of ways, but Netflix would still have to do it again.

It's not really Nintendo's fault here. Hulu took forever to release something that was supposed to come out in 2011.

Idealy, Id like my 3DS to emulate all the functions my smartphone can, as it has more horsepower and is much better for gaming.
Then I'd just use an old Nokia (which typically have 1-2 weeks battery life) for the actual phone Smilie
