Iwata: Wii U Titles for Highly Skilled Players in 2014 on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

During in investor's Q&A session, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata was quizzed on new Wii U games and marketing initiatives.

Speaking about the line-up for the holiday season and into 2014, Iwata highlighted how there'll be more games next year that are designed to "greatly appeal to highly skilled users". However towards the holiday season, "we have quite a few offerings that can be played by the whole family, dad and the kids, or grandparents and the kids", Iwata said.

He feels that this approach will give Nintendo the edge with families as the launch of Xbox One and PS4, he feels, have a "focus on targeting highly skilled users" instead. Games like Super Mario 3D World, Wii Party U and Wii Fit U "all lean more towards family use and we are targeting those who bought Wii and would be interested in the Wii U offering", Iwata confirmed.

This year, what Nintendo is promoting is, conversely, to stand out in the game industry for individuality. I believe we have become a unique value.

These games include titles like Bayonetta 2, the untitled Monolith Soft RPG, Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart, all pitched for a release at some-point next year.

What sorts of franchises and genres would you like to see Nintendo bring to Wii U?

Personally I think he means they plan on releasing a whopping great 5 NES Virtual Console games next year (almost all NES games are hard by today's standards so this logic checks out).

"Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze" and "Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem" in 2014 too!

And of course the new Starfox Smilie

I'd like to see them bring out Rodea (for Wii and Wii U) and Earth Seeker, (which has already been released in Japan).  An RPG-strategy game, like Takt of Magic would be welcome as well..

But above all, I'd like to see more TRPGs for Nintendo consoles.  The Wii-U, with its two screens is ideally suited for them.

Final Fantasy,Star Ocean,Kingdom Hearts,Lufia,Star Ocean,secret of mana,chrono trigger 3,the tales series,grandia series,new Lunar Game,New Secret of evermore game,new illusions of gaia game,Zelda Wii U,Luigis mansion 3.Encanted arms 2,

I guarantee xenoblade 2, will get pushed to 2015. Nintendo should stop lying about when their games are releasing.
