Nintendo 3DS Tops N64 Hardware Sales Figures on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Stats folk have tallied up the sales between the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 64, with the portable coming out tops after just over two years.

Despite the shaky start, the Nintendo 3DS has risen to a truly solid beast with consistently high sales and a brighter outlook. Now it appears as if the Nintendo 3DS has outsold the Nintendo 64's entire five-year life shipment figures.

The Nintendo 64 shipped 32,930,000 units, whilst the Nintendo 3DS outpaces that figure with 34,980,000 units as of September 30th 2013.

The Nintendo DS is still the most successful Nintendo console to date, shipping 153,960,000 units, joined closely at the hip by the Game Boy / Game Boy Colour at 111,869,000 units and the original Wii at just shy of 100,000,000 units shipped.

The Nintendo Wii U, however, still has a fair bit to go with just 3,910,000 units shipped until September 30th.

Are you one of the Nintendo 3DS owners, if so, which version of the console do you have - original, XL or 2DS?

3DS XL! Superb system! Probably one of the best Nintendo systems ever to be fair!

My original 3DS. The right speaker has been crackling for over a year but since I didn't have a receipt, I didn't send it in for repairs free of charge to Nintendo, and now that the warranty period of two years is over, I don't think I'll ever have it repaired. I mostly play with headphones on anyway.
