Extended Nintendo eShop Maintenance on 9-10 December on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo will be holding an extended maintenance period for the eShop and digital services on the 9th of December.

The service, which includes access to the eShop, Wii Shop channel and more will be down between the 9th and 10th of December depending on player regions. It's uncertain what the changes would incorporate, but it's likely to do with the upcoming Nintendo 3DS update expected this month.

Timings, courtesy to NeoGAF, are as follows:

  • Europe : 6PM to 5AM (Monday > Tuesday)
  • UK : 5PM to 4AM (Monday > Tuesday)
  • USA (East Coast) : 12PM to 11PM (Monday)
  • USA (West Coast) : 9AM to 8PM (Monday)
  • Japan : 2AM to 1PM (Monday > Tuesday)
Does this signify that the 3DS update is imminent?

It may be, but maybe they are going ready for Christmas - a lot of people may be coming to eShop these holdays, both new and old buying games and such.
But since it was hinted that the expected updates are significant, the downtime may be related to it.

I find your lack of faith disturbing!

The eShop is poor, they should focus on releasing their massive back catalog of more than one title per week! I'm tired of it to be honest, the prices for games are high too but I dont mind if the game is good, no SMB3 from NES, no Super Mario World. ALTTP from SNES, no GBA games at all .. wake up Nintendo!
