Leading online marketplace Play.com's parent company Rakuten Group have highlighted a growing trend towards Nintendo Wii U.

The group, who are based in Japan, predict that the Wii U and iPad will be more popular than the Xbox One and PS4 amongst children this holiday season. The company also claim that Wii U has risen 75% during October alone.

The research also dove into Twitter, stating how both devices are "the most talked about presents for children this Christmas" and that the "new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles are trailing in second and third place" when it comes to parents and children.

Do you think Nintendo can capture the market this crucial festive holiday season?

Probably not but I hope so, lower the price to £199 or £229 with a game and I'd buy a Wii U tomorrow

How about £230 with two games?

Wii U + NSMBU + NS Luigi U

Wii U + any two games as described

There's been £199 bundles dotted about recently. Sainsburys had some.

I expect they will sell quite well at Christmas, I hope so anyway they need to, price competitively maybe £229 with the new Mario game and they'd fly off the shelf. Im one of the few people who already thinks there is a decent catalog of games out at the minute to warrant a purchase, I just havn't made the plunge yet, like the 3DS (easily the best handheld/console Ive ever owned) the games will get better and better and will only be found on the Wii U. I suspect if they weren't so stubborn with their stupid marketing and would have just named it Wii 2 instead of Wii U the 'Casual' Wii audience would have flocked to the shops to buy this, their own fault really.
