Super Mario 3D World Praised for Solid 60fps and Visual Style on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Digital Foundry have explored the visual design and performance of Super Mario 3D World, with impressive results all round.

The latest platforming feat for the porky plumber and his cat-suit buddies is the first true HD 3D platforming release for Nintendo. Though the studio admitted problems in working with the increased depth in design, the results have been critically praised.

The technical test from Digital Foundry have highlighted a consistent, solid design all round - with a completely stable 60fps throughout many levels tested. The report also looks into the improved draw distance, lighting, shadows to the more subtle particles and detail flourishes.

There were minor flaws like minor jaggies in places and the odd grainy texture, as we noted in our review, but "Nintendo's output has been extremely consistent in delivering a perfect balance of performance and visual quality."

Frame rate is far more important then res, so this is great news to me.
