Contra III Heading to Wii U Virtual Console in Europe

Classic Konami side-scroller Contra III: The Alien Wars will be available on the Wii U Virtual Console in Europe shortly.

The official UK Nintendo site has been updated with a new listing for the upcoming release, which is stated to be the US version (NTSC) of the game. Originally released in Europe as Super Probotector: Alien Rebels, the two player game is set in 2636, where Jimbo and Sully, two soldiers, set out to stop a chaotic alien invasion through six meaty run-and-gun stages.

A release date is to be announced, but expected shortly.
