Nintendo Required to Act on Eternal Darkness Trademark on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

According to the trademark for Eternal Darkness, Nintendo has act on ownership of the name within 36 months.

The listing states that Nintendo must file a statement of use or request an extension  to continue ownership of the Eternal Darkness trademark, name and branding. "If the applicant fails to timely file a statement of use or a request for an extension of time to file a statement of use, the application will be abandoned," states the The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Nintendo could well remake the cult GameCube classic, or perhaps opt for the quick and easy route of simply porting the title onto the Wii U Virtual Console.

What do you think Nintendo should do with the Eternal Darkness trademark?

Don't let this slip Nintendo! That is a CLASSIC game just begging for an HD sequel!

Hopefully this means gamecube virtual console games sooner as in this year. Really don't wanna wait 36 months for them. :/

If Nintendo doesn't act on this, and release another Eternal Darkness game... THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Sadly, I feel it might die.
The original creators couldn't get enough - and Nintendo wasn't interested in helping them.

Nintendo might do some legal waggling to get an extension. But at this point we would be lucky to even get a port.

All they would need to do is release it on the virtual console. Nintendo said that Gamecube games were coming to the WiiU VC in the future so why not put this up? No need to make a new game, just put it up as a download.

Saying that, over a year since the WiiU was released and the VC is still pretty pathetic overall, even when compared to the Wii's VC in a similar time frame. That and the fact that there's still no TVii in Europe, I wouldn't be surpised to never see GC games. :/

Does anyone know if they got to it on time? I agree this is a GREAT game & should remain an exclusive, I'd absolutely HATE for this wonderful series to fall into sony's hands.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

Here would be my ideal scenario...
Nintendo gets Denis Dyack & friends to do an HD update to ED for Wii U.
Then DD & friends make the sequel.
