Nintendo Kept Super Mario 3D World Offline for the NES Experience on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

More comments from Nintendo in the latest edition of US magazine Game Informer on why Super Mario 3D World is an offline affair.

Despite the inclusion of Miiverse posts and racing ghosts in the new 3D Mario game on Wii U, the game itself has remained offline and limited to the living room or wherever fans decide to setup their gaming abode.

Producer Yoshiaki Koizumi highlighted that online play had been toyed with since Super Mario Galaxy, but with Super Mario 3D World Nintendo wanted to emulate the original NES experience, where players "have fun in front of the TV" and bundle together with Mario and friends.

Should Super Mario 3D World have included optional online multiplayer?

No, I don't think it's necessary. Does EVERY game have to be online nowaday? I don't think so.

Online would definitely benefit this game though as many people can't meet up a lot of the time to play local multiplayer so online would really work. I respect Nintendo for their local multiplayer games as barely many companies bother with offline multiplayer now, but this is a really poor excuse >.>

They use this same excuse every time. It's pure laziness.

If someone is not in the position to play together in front of the TV, then I guess they simply must suffer eh Nintendo?
