Iwata and Miyamoto to Receive Pay Cut After Financial Struggles on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata has announced a pay-cut across senior executives, including cutting his own salary in half.

Iwata, the chap in charge of all things Nintendo, confirmed earlier today that due to the 30 percent drop in profits for the last nine months, he will gain a reduced salary for the next five months at the very least. Other board members, which include Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, will take a pay cut of between 20 and 30 percent.

Beyond this period, Iwata told the press that he'll decide after reviewing the management situation after that time.

Do you think this move is fair on key Nintendo executives?

Iwata had already taken a 50% pay cut when the 3DS was doing badly.

Though it's a shame they've had to do this, it really is inspiring to see higher ups in a company accepting the blame instead of doing what most companies do and sacking lower-levelled workers whilst the directors remain comfy.
