Nintendo are looking into developing a new function for the Wii U GamePad that'll become available in a summer update.
The wait for starting the Wii U and leaping into game-playing mode Nintendo feel is "not an ideal situation for users now," especially for players who may simply want to play games and run software without their TV set.
In a bid to remedy the situation, Iwata has announced plans to build a "Quick Start" menu to be deployed in a Wii U system update "for early summer."
A concept video details how it might just work:
Essentially the new function would allow for players to leap into recently launched titles "without being routed to the console menu" first. Iwata wants this feeling to be similar to that of a regular TV remote, where a press of a button almost instantly displays content.
With that in mind, "you feel that the time to start up a Wii U software title is cut by more than 50 percent" and he feels that it'll help consumers better understand "the appealing nature of the GamePad."
