The latest sales figures from Japan confirm faster uptake when compared to the performance of the Game Boy Advance.
The popular handheld had sold 11.64 million units when reaching its 154th week, and now the Nintendo 3DS has surpassed that figure, topping 15 million in the same period. Despite this, the original Nintendo DS console had sold 20.16 million units in Japan by its 154th week, but the 3DS isn't too far off that achievement.
The portable is intended to be Nintendo's main profit driver this year, whilst the company attempts to boost the performance of the flailing Wii U.
Can Nintendo maintain the 3DS momentum going forward and even catch-up to the DS's record?
