New details for the upcoming Nintendo-exclusive Sonic Boom have surfaced, including Chaos Emeralds and inspiration.
During the New York reveal for the game last week, a pair of video interviews confirm a wad of information for the upcoming games, but more specifically the Wii U edition. SEGA started off by teasing that the 3DS version will handle differently to the Wii U edition, with more details expected at a future date. As for the Wii U GamePad itself, it'll primarily be used for a map/upgrades, but will also play a role in an undisclosed feature.
Citing Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Adventure and the more recent Sonic Generations as inspiration for the project, the game is said to be more "organically challenging", with secret content/content upgrades affecting difficulty level, allowing for both younger and more experienced players to enjoy the experience. Sonic Boom will have a range of upgrades for the four characters, with two characters mainly used during gameplay segments, with specific portions for those wanting to play alongside friends.
That said, there'll also be key story-driven segments where specific characters are used.
When asked about the Chaos Emeralds, the short answer is that these - and presumably Super Sonic - will not appear in the forthcoming games.
