New Fatal Frame Game Announced for Wii U on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

The horror adventure series Fatal Frame is to get a brand new entry on the Wii U, Tecmo Koei and Nintendo have announced.

Better known as Project Zero in Europe, the series most recently saw a remake of the second game make its way to Wii, in the form of Project Zero 2: Wii Edition.

No details on the title or release dates of the fifth game, exclusive to Wii U, have been revealed.

This news comes as Tecmo Koei announces plans to expand the Fatal Frame franchise into other areas, including a live action film from Kadokawa, a novel, and a comic.

TK and Nintendo seem to be on great terms. It's good to see a developer still supporting the Wii U so heartily. Wouldn't surprise me to see this end up being a timed exclusive, though.

Hopefully this will get a western release. The Wii U needs all the games it can get.

Working like a fiend isn't very fun... and surprisingly isn't very fiendish either.

Pretty sure nintendo bought the Fatal Frame IP after the Fatal Frame 4 debacle.

Bad sales of the two Wii games didn't warrant any ports to other consoles, so I don't see this happening here either. I don't know why, but it seems there's been something going on, with the series never again appearing on other consoles ever since Project Zero IV being exclusive to Wii, then the remake of the second one, and then the 3DS augmented reality game (which wasn't really any good Smilie), all exclusive to Nintendo systems. Maybe Nintendo did something to get the series to become exclusive, I don't know. I'm pretty sure they were part of the development of Project Zero 2 remake, and possibly Project Zero 4 as well, I'm pretty sure they said so in a Iwata asks. Or at least they were acting as consultants in the development of these, if they were not directly involved. Maybe they financed part of it too.

EDIT: Aaaah yes, PZ4 was developped by TK jointly with people from Nintendo (Toru Osawa and Toshiharu Izuno), and so was the remake of the 2nd one it seems, as is implied in here:

I wouldn't be too surprised if the same kind of collaboration was happening with the Wii U game as well, in which case it could NOT be ported to other systems.

This one had BETTER come to the states....as should the other 2 Wii titles. One thing Nintendo messes up on that I'll admit is that they don't give us enough of THESE type of games. They need to get past the social stereo type they've built for themselves.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422
