Nintendo Patent Offers Interchangeable Controls on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Earlier today a Nintendo patent for a portable with interchangeable control schemes surfaced online.

With each new generation of home console and portable, there's always something different in button placement, the type of analogue stick, shoulder buttons etc. This is especially the case with Nintendo systems, where peripherals have had drastically different designs based on the innovation Nintendo has tried to push with each new system.

The patent describes a situation that could be beneficial for those who may like controllers arranged in a specific way, or to switch around the interface based on certain types of game. "Final Destination", Fox, C-Stick only. Make it happen, Nintendo!

Do you think an interchangable controller/portable could work? What would be your perfect setup?

Interesting. Sounds pretty awesome, but... isn't it way too soon for Nintendo to announce new hardware? Even if it's just a revision. Hopefully this is debunked (for now).

Unless it's a new Wii U GamePad! Smilie
