Mario Kart 8 DLC Confirmed for Europe, North America on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Nintendo have confirmed that the DLC for Mario Kart 8, which features a branded Mercedes car to drive, will be released this summer.

The collaboration between leading car manufacturer Mercedes and Nintendo was announced for Japan earlier this year, with the porky plumber featured in advertising for the latest four wheeler. Now the campaign has extended overseas, with both North America and Europe primed to receive the content.

It's uncertain whether Nintendo also intend to including other, additional DLC content - like courses and vehicles - but more details are expected soon.

Will you download the Mercedes car to your copy of Mario Kart 8?

I guess you won't be able to take it online though? How would your kart be rendered to other players who did not download it onto their consoles otherwise?

They could display a default kart, perhaps one with a similar build. In fighting games, if you haven't downloaded the latest costume pack, the opponent with a DLC costume will just appear in their default outfit.

Most likely - I don't think they'll use a completely new model, will likely be the Sports Coupe or something like that; so you're prob right in it just showing standard "skins" for those who don't have it.

Still eager for extra courses and tracks, however.

There could be a patch to allow other players to see it when you play online. Or, if this is of course free DLC, then a patch could be released to simply put the new content in the game.

I'd love to see Lamborghini over Ferrari for DLC. Life is too short to only drive Ferrari.

It is not wise to speak on subjects you do not know all facts about, nor is it smart to judge a game based on looks alone. PSN: Nintendo_Gamer 3DS: 4296-3029-7422

Not an issue. Every online copy of Mario Kart 8 can automatically be updated and it's not an issue for offline copies.

EDIT: Looking back I realize that Mush already posted almost the same thing.

I want to touch Rudy's eyeball.
